V.   ETHJA Recognized Hunter and Jumper Divisions

Courses at ETHJA shows are require to have at least 2 oxers except in Beginner Rider Hunter, Beginner Equitation, Short and Long Stirrup, Mini and 2' Equitation. Note: The back rail must have safety cups.

A.   Short Stirrup Hunter - Open to riders 12 years and under on ponies in their first or second year of showing over fences 2' or higher. Pony/rider combination may not enter the Pony Hunter division at the same show. Fences 2'
B.   Long Stirrup Hunter - Open to amateur or junior riders of any age on horses or riders 13 years old or older on ponies in their first or second year of showing over fences 2' or higher. Fences 2'. Pony/rider combination may not enter the Pony Hunter division
at the same show.
C.   Beginner Rider Hunter - Open to amateur or junior riders of any age on horses or ponies who have not shown over fences above 18". Riders may enter other classes with fences not to exceed 18"and any other undersaddle classes they are otherwise qualified for.
         Courses may be trotted or cantered. Under saddle to walk/trot only. Fences 18".
D.    Mini Hunter - Open to any horse or pony and any rider. Under saddle to walk/trot only. (To retain eligibility in Beginner rider and   Beginner Equitation these riders must jump 18")  Fences 18" or 2'.
E.    Schooling Hunter - Open to all horses or ponies. Adults may ride ponies. Fences 2' or 2'6".
F.    Pony Hunter - Open to junior riders on ponies. USEF rules to apply with the exception of fence height. Small ponies to be shown by  juniors 12 years of age or younger. Medium ponies to be shown by juniors 14 years of age or younger. Fences 2' for smalls and  mediums, 2'6" for larges.
G.    Special Hunter - Open to amateur/ junior riders on horses or ponies. Amateurs may ride ponies. Fences 2', 2'6"or 2'9".
H.    Children's Hunter - Open to junior riders on horses. May not cross enter into Junior Hunters at the same show. Fences 3'.
I.      Adult Amateur Hunter - Open to amateur riders on horses. May not cross enter into Amateur Owner Hunter at the same show.
        Fences 3'.
J.     Low Hunter - Open to any rider on horses or ponies. Fences 3'0".
K.   Regular Working Hunter - Open to any horse or rider. Fences over 3'.
L.    Green Hunter - Open to horses and ponies in their first or second year of showing; over fences exceeding 2' and any rider. (Adults may ride ponies) Fences 2', 2'6" and 3'.
M.   Jumpers - Any USEF table applies.

  1. Low Jumpers.  Fences 2' 6" or under open to any horse/ pony rider combination which has never shown in any ETHJA or USEF jumper competition over fences exceeding 2' 6".
  1. High Jumpers.  Fences over 2' 6". Open to any horse/pony rider combination.
  1. ETHJA encourages and will support any decision to eliminate/disqualify exhibitors whose actions are deemed, by the judge, to be not in the best interest of a horse, person, or the sport.
  1. There should be no schooling allowed over jumper courses at any ETHJA shows. Jumper courses should be
        posted no earlier than 30 minutes prior to the commencement of jumper classes.
        Jumper courses must have a designated start/finish line.
  1. In case of insufficient entries, High and Low Jumpers may be combined; provided that all entrants jump at the required height of their respective division.
N.   Handy Hunter classes may be offered in divisions 2' or higher. No combinations required.

Suggested Divisions (not ETHJA recognized)
Pleasure Division may include Pleasure walk/trot, Pleasure walk/trot/canter, Hunter Hack (2 fences 18"-23") Model and Showmanship.
