Established in 1983 to promote and establish uniform guidelines for the local hunter shows throughout the East Tennessee area. In addition we offer an end of the year awards program for all members.

Attention Show Managers

  1. Limit Rider and Limit Hunter can no longer be combined.
  2. Long Stirrup and Short Stiruup must be listed separtely but may be combined at the show.
  3. Children's Hunter and Adult Hunter must be listed separtely but may be combined at the show.
  4. Any ETHJA division may be split in the prize list and may be split at the show if conditions or excess entries require. If split, it is recommended that the California split be used. for (2 or more ribbons each place awarded)

Q. In order to retain ETHJA accreditation shows must have an official announcer/ show secretary , there must also be gate attendant at each ring. Further, these officials and the judge (s) must have effective, immediate and reliable communication for the entire duration of the show. There should also be a punctual competent ring crew present for every class and course change for the entire duration of the show.
R. Any show without effective lighting cannot commence any class prior to 15 minutes before official sunrise of the show date, and must complete any class 15 minutes later than official sunset of the show date. (As designated by NOAA Weather Service).

Jumper Rules

P. Jumpers - Any USEF table applies.
1. Low Jumpers.  Fences 2' 6" or under open to any horse/ pony rider combination which has never shown in any ETHJA or USEF jumper competition over fences exceeding 2' 6".
2. High Jumpers.  Fences over 2' 6". Open to any horse/pony rider combination.
3. ETHJA encourages  and will support any decision to eliminate/disqualify exhibitors whose actions are deemed, by the judge, to be not in the best interest of a horse, person, or the sport.
4. There should be no schooling allowed over jumper courses at any ETHJA shows. Jumper courses should be
posted no earlier than 30 minutes prior to the commencement of jumper classes.
    5. Jumper courses must have a designated start/finish line.
